How Lawdex protects your data

• Your data stays yours

  Every lawyer, chambers and firm gets its own private workspace. No other workspace on Lawdex can ever see your matters, files, finances or messages. They are walled off from each other, not just hidden.

• People only see what their role allows

  When you add colleagues, you decide each person’s role: admin, partner, associate or secretary. Each person can only open and do what their role permits, and this is checked on our servers, not just in the app on their screen.

• Your information is encrypted

  Your data is scrambled while it travels between your device and Lawdex, so nobody can read it in between, and it is also stored in a scrambled form on our servers. Even our backups are protected this way.

• We never see your password

  Your password is turned into an unreadable code before it is stored, so no one, not even our team, can ever read it. It is never kept as plain text anywhere.

• A second lock for your account

  You can turn on two-step sign-in, where a code from your phone is needed in addition to your password. That way, even if someone learns your password, they still cannot get in. We recommend it for everyone.

• Protection against guessing and bots

  Sign-in is guarded against automated attempts to guess passwords, and password-reset links can only be used once and expire quickly. This blocks the most common ways accounts get broken into.

• A record of important actions

  Key actions, like changing someone’s role or removing a team member, are logged. Your administrators can always see who did what, and when.

• Regular backups

  Your data is backed up regularly, so it can be recovered if something goes wrong. You are not relying on a single copy.

• Built for Nigerian data-protection law

  Lawdex is built to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act. You own and control your data; we only ever handle it on your instructions to run the service.
