Roles and access
Roles for chambers and firms, each seeing exactly what it should, enforced on the server rather than merely hidden.
A firm is not a flat team, and its software should not pretend otherwise. A firm workspace has five roles, and each one sees and does exactly what it should. A chambers keeps it simple: every partner has full access and one secretary keeps the diary. Solo has one user, so roles never get in the way.
The five firm roles
Administrator and Partner run the firm and see everything, including financials and billing. The Head of Chambers oversees matters and workflow. The Secretary keeps the registry and court diary organised. The Associate works their own matters and tasks. Everyone can message the team, and everyone can play in the Legal Arena.
Enforced, not just hidden
This is the part that matters for privileged data: access is enforced on the server with Row Level Security, not merely hidden in the interface. A role can only ever do what it is allowed to, even if someone tried to reach past the buttons. You can see your own capabilities any time on the Settings page, under your role.
